Swing Gate Real - Time Occupancy Flow Control for Museums.
Target groups : Science museums, museums, libraries, exhibition centres, aquariums, botanical gardens
Exhibition centres handle large volumes of pedestrian traffic every day. However, traditional management methods often face the following problems :
1. Overcrowding and major safety risks on holidays :
On free admission days or during popular special exhibitions, the number of visitors inside the venue far exceeds capacity. This creates a risk of stampedes and poses significant safety hazards.
2. Inability to count the number of people inside in real time :
Visitor entry is estimated visually by staff – a highly imprecise method. Only the number of people who have entered is known; the number who have left is not. Consequently, it is impossible to calculate the "real‑time number of people inside" or to determine whether the venue is over capacity. This means there is no way to decide when to stop allowing entry.
3. Operational efficiency and experience optimisation :
During peak periods, a large number of staff must be deployed to manage queues – this is costly and creates a poor visitor experience. Furthermore, it is not possible to quantify the appeal of exhibits, for example, how many visitors a new exhibition has attracted.
4. Differentiated services and increased revenue :
There is a need to manage different entry lanes for different ticket types (e.g., queue‑skipping for sponsored members) and to identify opportunities for secondary spending through data analysis.
Kemaisi solution :
1. Smart entry and multi‑channel ticket integration :
Supports online ticket purchase followed by entry using QR codes, RFID cards, or contactless mobile NFC scanning – throughput can reach over 30 people per minute. Multi‑lane flow distribution can be configured, enabling different access rights and lane management for VIPs, members, and regular reservations.
2. Real‑time visitor counting and capacity alerts :
Sensors in the turnstiles separately count entry and exit numbers, accurately calculating the current number of people inside the venue at any given moment. The remaining capacity is dynamically calculated. When the visitor count reaches a preset threshold, an automatic alarm is triggered.
3. Dynamic flow‑limiting mechanism :
The system can implement a "one out, one in" logic – one person is allowed to enter for each person who exits – enabling precise visitor rotation. Alternatively, the system can directly close the entry lanes of the turnstiles, completely blocking entry and switching to a one‑way exit mode.
4. Behavioural data analytics dashboard :
Provides an intuitive backend data dashboard, allowing management to access refined operational data in real time, including peak entry hours, visitor flow trends, dwell time and heat levels in specific exhibit areas, average visit duration, and more.
